Oct. 17: The Fourth Annual Bobby Scruggs Charitable Foundation Event
This year's event will take place at Patrick Henry Community College on October 17, 2008. The Autograph/Auction Dinner will be held in the gymnasium on Patriot Drive at the College. Tickets may be obtained by calling (540) 966-3222 or through the college.

The Bobby Scruggs Charitable Foundation is awarding six scholarships at five Southwest Virginia area high schools in 2008. Congratulations to:

  • Ethan L. Brown, Franklin County High School
  • Clarence A. Naff, Franklin County High School
  • Michael P. Struble, Hidden Valley High School

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

Bobby Scruggs served 38 years as a NASCAR official and was the founder and owner of Racing Image in Roanoke. Bobby passed away on January 22, 2005, after a thirteen year battle with cancer, but he “Never Gave Up” and he truly appreciated the support of the NASCAR family throughout his fight. The Bobby Scruggs Memorial Foundation was established as a component fund of this region's community foundation, Foundation for Roanoke Valley, to:

• memorialize James R. (Bobby) Scruggs' longtime dedication to the sport of motor racing;

• to honor and commemorate his integrity, forthrightness, dependability and respect for others;

• to raise scholarship funds for young men and women who are pursuing a career in motorsports; and

• and to pay tribute to his long and determined struggle against cancer. 

The success of the Foundation is due to the support of family, friends, corporations, and The NASCAR Foundation.
